DIY Bentonite Clay Mask

Bentonite Clay is a natural healing clay known for its ability to help draw toxins out of the body.  It is harvested from naturally occurring volcanic ash and contains high levels of trace minerals including silica, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, and potassium.

A good quality Bentonite clay is gray or beige in color, very fine, odourless and non-staining.

When mixed with liquid, it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge.

Dr. Robert T. Martin is a mineralogist and one of America´s outstanding authorities on bentonite. According to his research, Bentonite clay has a large and varied mineral content.  It has a negative electrical attraction for positively charged particles. In the human body, various toxic poisons are positively charged.  These toxins are irresistibly drawn towards the clay. The very minuteness of the particles of Bentonite gives a large surface area in proportion to the volume used, thus enabling it to pick up many times its weight in positively charged particles.

2 Ways with Bentonite Clay

  • Hair shampoo
  • Face mask

*Do not use metal utensils or containers to stir or store Bentonite clay powder. Contact with metal may decrease the clay’s potency.

Shampoo

Use to cleanse and clarify the hair without making it feel dry or stripped.  It helps to remove buildup from your hair and scalp due to its ability to attract and bind impurities.

I alternate mixing my clay with aloe vera juice or apple cider vinegar/water (for a deep cleanse)
