Review: Nailtiques Non-Acetone Remover & Formula 2

I remember being a teenager and applying the Stop nail polish because I desperately wanted beautiful long nails like my sister Elsa. But once the polish was dry, I chewed it off and bit my nails until my fingers bled, the bitter taste didn’t even bother me; sometimes I didn’t even let it dry.

As years went by the neglect continued. Occasionally  I’d let them grow, but when anxiety kicked in my response was to bite my nails . Needless to say that I had ugly, thin and brittle nails that peeled in layers and caused me immense pain.

My friend Lauren who is a beautician recommended Nailtiques Formula 2 Protein treatment and I haven’t looked back.

I also bought the Nailtique Non-acetone nail polish remover.

Nailtiques Non-Acetone Remover 177ml (£8.16)

Nailtiques Non-Acetone Remover is an acetone-free formula that is extremely gentle to both nails and skin. It contains aloe and conditioners which help protect the nail from becoming dry while effectively removing nail protein and/or polish.

Ingredients: Ethyl Acetate, Alcohol Denat., Water/Eau/Aqua, Fragrance/Parfum, Benzophenone-1, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Blue 1/CI 42090, Yellow 11/CI 47000

Benefits: Helps prevent dry, brittle nails and dry cuticles.

Application: Saturate cotton with remover. Press the cotton over the nail surface for several moments allowing the remover to dissolve the protein and/or polish.

I must admit that it takes some getting used to because you have to dab the cotton wool and keep it on the nail for a few seconds, and then once the polish is removed it leaves the nail rather dry and matte looking. I honestly don’t like the feeling, so  I quickly wash and  exfoliate my hands with lemon and sugar then moisturise with coconut oil.

Nailtiques Formula 2 Nail Protein 15 ml (£16.99)

The protein immediately acts to help bond nails that are splitting or peeling. Formula 2 also helps to strengthen the nail resulting in long, strong and healthy nails.

Application: Apply daily. As nails improve, decrease application. Formula 2 may be worn alone or with color polish.

It’s been a battle, but I’m proud to have my own natural healthy nails and enjoy trying out new colours.  And yes! I do all the housework myself.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
Warning: You have to be consistent with the protein application, don’t expect miracles after 1 application. For the 1st few months I only applied nailtiques protein, no colour on top.  It’s not girlie and pretty, but my nails are no longer brittle and I’ve stopped biting them as well.

Give it a try. Your nails will thank you.

IMPORTANT: Please be extra cautious, unfortunately both items have highly flammable and toxic ingredients in them. Keep away from childrens reach.
