Review: Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration Conditioner + Masque

Shea Moisture is one of my favourite natural hair brands.  I’m #TeamSheaMoisture and the product junkie in me is always excited to try out their new lines.

The Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration line is part of Shea Moisture’s Community Commerce campaign.

Community Commerce…
Give Back and Fight Poverty!

10% of SheaMoisture Community Commerce sales go to women-led businesses, to support communities that supply ingredients for our products, or to support The Sofi Tucker Foundation. We founded Community Commerce to support these communities, especially those that source and make some of the key ingredients in SheaMoisture products. We help fund training and infrastructure to help them manufacture their own high quality goods in their countries, and get fair prices for their goods and labor. This helps them to earn a better living and support their families, making a better life possible within their communities. It’s not a donation. It’s an investment in a fairer world.

So while I was shopping on Amazon I came across the Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration conditioner and masque on Same-day delivery (Prime members) and I was ecstatic.

I decided not to get the shampoo as I’ve got tons of shampoo to finish off.

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Glycerin (Vegetable), Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Panthenol, Trichilia Emetica (Mafura) Seed Oil, Honey, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Fragrance (Essential Oil Blend), Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Cetrimonium Chloride, Persea Gratissma (Avocado) Oil, Ficus (Fig) Extract, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter *, Tocopherol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylene Glycol

When I opened this hair masque it was love at first sniff for me.  The scent is soooooo amazing.  My hair gets extremely parched in the winter so I like to use a deep conditoner weekly.

After washing my hair, I applied the masque to my hair in four sections (makes it easier to detangle).  It has a rich and creamy consistency and was easy to apply to my hair.

The directions say leave in for 5 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. For extra conditioning , cover hair with a plastic cap. Apply moderate heat for up to 30 minutes. When using a steamer do not cover hair. Moist heat will add to masque’s hydration.

The first time I used this masque I covered my hair with a shower cap and left it in for 30 minutes.  When I want a more intensive treatment I sit under my hair steamer for 15 minutes.

When I rinsed it out, this masque had worked wonders on my hair.  My hair was unbelievably soft, shiny and felt like butter.  Now that’s what I’d expect from a hydrating masque.

This product right here just tops it for me!

This conditioner has a good amount of slip and makes detangling a breeze.  It has the same incredible scent as the deep conditioner.

The directions say leave on for 3 minutes but I like to leave it on longer (usually 15 minutes).

After rinsing my hair feels soft, hydrated and less frizzy.

I’m so glad I’ve found this new line.  These 2 products are now in my top staples collection.

  1. I’m actually using the intensive hydration complex oil from the line and I love it! I use it as a pre wash & I also use it to oil my hair/scalp.

  2. Think it would be any good for washing out my hair while its in s sew-in? I was so engrossed in the Raw range I didn’t notice this range but I want to give it a try

    1. Hi Fola, if you’ve got your hair in sew-in I would probably use the JBCO shampoo to help clarify your scalp. This range isn’t that widely available. They’ve only launched the Raw Shea butter, coconut Hibiscus, JBCO and Superfruit complex in Boots. There are a few places online like Amazon, Beautybyzara, British Curls that have newer lines. Shea Moisture have so….many other lines we are missing out on here in the UK.
      I hope that helps 😀

  3. Thank you for such a wonderful article dear and from my side I want to say that i am using manuka honey intensive hydration complex from long for my hairs and its really effective. This potent treatment absorbs quickly to encourage a healthy scalp and lustrous, beautiful hair. Leaves hair soft, manageable and resilient. Improves hair’s elasticity and promotes healthy growth.
