Introducing Planted Skincare

I’m super excited to share my latest discovery with you. As soon as I saw this brand pop up on LoveLula I knew I had to try the products.

Planted Skincare products are lovingly handmade in small, fresh batches and formulated with nothing but skin loving and earth friendly ingredients.

Behind the brand is Melissa Chartan, former make-up artist and beauty consultant.

Having always suffered from very dry skin, prone to eczema, psoriasis and chronic itching, I grew up obsessed with moisturising – on most days I would apply commercial products 3 times or more!

I avoided the steroid-laden creams that the doctors prescribed, but was unaware of the toxicity I was absorbing from mass produced skincare. Unsurprisingly my skin worsened and, out of sheer desperation, I tried olive oil. Finally long lasting moisturisation and comfort. This marked the beginning of my love affair with plant oils.

Alongside this, being exposed to many products in my career as a Makeup Artist and Beauty Consultant only intensified my strong disapproval of the fraudulent nature of the Beauty industry.  Misinformation is rife, and the more I learned about cosmetic ingredients, the more I realised the extent to which harmful chemicals are found in our everyday products – whether high end or mainstream brands, even including baby products! Only a very small number of 100% natural products are available, some of which still include toxic ingredients posing as naturally-derived ones (such as grapefruit seed extract).

After years of research and practice blending oils, I have not only learned about the specific benefits of each oil, but also mastered which combinations work best. Over time, my blending of oils evolved into the formulation of water-based facial skincare products. The results were so significant that I just couldn’t keep it a secret, and with a loyal following from family and friends, I eventually decided to bring my products to market. After a year of refining my formulas, Planted was born in my kitchen in Wokingham, Berkshire, in 2016.

Planted products are more than 100% natural. We favour ingredients that are recognisable, and that have been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic or other traditional practices. The ingredients are carefully selected to be minimally processed, so our products hold the true colour, scent and texture as nature intended. This approach, along with the broad spectrum of essential nutrients in our formulas, brings long term healthy skin to all skins.

Planted Skincare Oil Cleanser with Black Cumin and Raw Honey + Muslin Cloth 150ml | £16.95

Comes complete with an organic muslin face cloth. Sweep away all makeup and daily grime with our revitalising gel-to-milk oil cleanser. A naturally sweet, citrus spiced scent. Suitable for all skin types, from very dry and sensitive to oily.

An optimum blend of plant oils, raw honey and essential oils, combined with a sucrose based emulsifier to help the product rinse clean. Soothe, soften and smooth your skin whilst you thoroughly cleanse.

Key ingredients (in order of quantity)

• Raw honey – naturally occurring lactic acid lifts dead skin cells, whilst its humectant nature binds moisture to our skin for glowing, plump and soft skin. Locally sourced in Wokingham, UK.
• Meadowfoam seed oil – Contains a unique high quality fatty acid composition, known to balance sebum production for both oily and dry skin. Sustainable and eco-friendly.
• Black cumin seed oil – Treats a range of concerns with its mineral rich content – scarring, pigmentation marks, acne and lines and wrinkles. Soothes irritation and redness for sensitive skins.
• Frankincense and myrrh – An antibacterial that reverses photoaging of the skin, which is caused by UV damage, as well as boosting elasticity.

Non-comedogenic (non pore clogging)

I was immediately drawn to this cleanser after I read the ingredient list.  I’ve never used a cleanser like it before, after my first use I was completely sold.

It feels so lovely on my skin and smells so good.  I gently massage a small amount onto dry face for 1-2 mins to dissolve dirt, impurities and makeup.

I love that it comes with an organic muslin cloth to help remove the cleanser.  I dampen the muslin cloth with warm water, hold over my face for a few seconds and then gently wipe away the cleanser.  Afterwards my skin feels thoroughly cleansed, soft, balanced and brighter.  I love the long term results from using this cleanser, it really helped improve my skin overall.  Definitely a staple!

Planted Skincare Nutrient Rich Face Cream 50ml | £18

Formulated with a synergistic blend of 11 of nature’s most nutrient dense plant oils, carefully selected to contain the broad spectrum of nutrition that will heal, regenerate and replenish your skin.

Key ingredients (in order of quantity)

• Rose water – balances pH levels, soothes inflamed or sensitive skin and restores our skin’s protective barrier (the stratum corneum).
• Pomegranate seed oil – deeply penetrating non-greasy moisturisation, exceptional healing qualities for skin renewal and reparation of damaged cells, aids in production of collagen.
• Rosehip oil – especially high levels of vitamins A and C which brighten skin, disperse dark spots and pigmentation, and promote smooth, supple skin
• Raspberry seed oil – offers natural UVA and UVB protection and UV damage repairing benefits and is also an excellent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
• Moringa Oil – moisturising, antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and nourishing properties.

So I’ve used my fair share of body butters and made several batches of my own.  I have to say Melissa totally nailed this body butter.  First of all it smells good enough to eat and the consistency is so creamy and fluffy.  It literally melts on the skin and absorbs well, it is intensely moisturising without being heavy or greasy.

Packed full of nourishing butters and oils, it works well on my kids eczema patches, helping to soothe, nourish and protect their delicate skin.

I absolutely love this brand and I’m so glad I discovered these goodies!
