Review – Garden of Life Supplements

I regularly use supplements as part of my daily routine to support my overall health and wellbeing. Today I want to share some of the supplements we use as a family from my favourite brand. I’ve been using a variety of their products for over 10 years as they are a well-known and trusted brand.

About Garden of Life®

We are fanatical about food. We’re different that way. Whether we’re making a vitamin, a probiotic, or a protein powder, we always start with real foods. This is what makes our formulas the best of the best. We’re different that way, too. The synthetically created, chemical “breakthroughs” from huge commercial laboratories around the world are not for us. Let the other guys sell those “supplements.” No thanks.
As fanatical as we are over what goes into our products, we are even more obsessed about the things we keep out of them. We hate those synthetic chemicals that most companies use to make their products. This stuff makes machines work faster, and helps factories churn out super-sized containers at higher “efficiency.” Well, while the other guys spend their time preoccupied with their efficiency, we’re uncompromising about your health. Slow it down, make it by hand, grow it in rich organic non-GMO soil with enough sun, air, water and time for it to be its best. Harvest it when ready. Treat it with care. Turn it into a power-packed nutritious food supplement. That’s what we are all about.

My review today will be focusing on these staples:

mykind Organics Herbal Liver Bitters Spray – 58ml

Our Liver Bitter Detox spray is a modern approach to traditional herbal detox therapies, expertly formulated with powerful organic herbal ingredients like:

  • Organic Artichoke to stimulate the flow of bile from the liver, in order to help reduce the symptoms of indigestion and promote healthy detoxification and elimination.
  • Organic Dandelion to support the liver and gall bladder, promote digestion and to support the detoxification process.
  • Organic Burdock root has long been prized in Chinese medicine for its ability to promote healthy digestion, detoxify the liver, balance hormones and promote overall skin health. Burdock is bitter, and as such, it encourages healthy digestion and appetite.

Digestive bitters are herbs that support digestive function by stimulating bitter receptors on the tongue, stomach, gallbladder and pancreas. Their primary effect is to promote digestive juices such as stomach acid, bile and enzymes to breakdown food and assist in the absorption of nutrients.

Benefits of liver bitters:

  • Encourages HCL production, bile, and digestive enzyme production.
  • Helps relieve heartburn and reflux.
  • Relieves and minimizes gas and bloating.
  • Helps maintain healthy blood sugar levels.
  • Supports healthy skin and liver function.
  • Regulates bowel movements and prevents constipation.
  • Balances appetite. Including reduction of sugar cravings.
  • Increases absorption of fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, K and digestion of other fats.

This is a great product for detoxification. The spray is convenient and easy to use, I use 6 sprays daily. The taste isn’t bad either, it has a mild aniseed like taste.

mykind Organics Herbal Oil of Oregano Drops – 30ml

Get seasonal support with our mykind Organics Herbal Oil of Oregano Liquid Drops. Oregano has been used for centuries in traditional medicine.
This 100% organic, vegan oil also features compounds including Carvacrol and Thymol.

I’ve been using oil of oregano for over a year now and it is amazing. This is my 3rd bottle.

Oil of oregano contains two powerful compounds called carvacrol and thymol, both of which have been shown in studies to have strong antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Why is oil of oregano good for you?

Fights colds and flu

Oil of oregano has been traditionally used for treating respiratory symptoms and as a treatment for other symptoms of the common cold and flu, such as fever. Oregano also has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, which might reduce pain and soothe coughs.

Lowers cholesterol

The phenols, carvacrol and thymol in oregano oil extract may contribute to lowering cholesterol.

Rich in Antioxidants

Oregano oil contains a multitude of powerful antioxidants, which protect our bodies from the damage caused by free radicals and oxidative stress.

Good for the gut

Oregano is shown to have several positive effects on our gut, from fighting digestive parasites to protecting the stomach lining and digestive tract from harmful bacteria like E. coli.

Anti-inflammatory

Oregano oil can reduce inflammation and swelling in the body, primarily due to the compound carvacrol.

Antibiotic properties

Some studies suggest that oregano oil can fight off bacteria in the body and might even be effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria such as E. coli and pseudomonas aeruginosa, the bacteria commonly responsible for urinary tract infections (UTI) and some respiratory infections.

It comes with an easy to use dropper. I dilute 6 drops in water daily for a maximum of 2 weeks. The taste is quite strong but not unpleasant. I also combine with coconut oil and use for oil pulling. I have found this really effective.

mykind Organics Vitamin C Spray – Orange Tangerine – 58ml

mykind Organics Certified Organic Whole Food Vitamin C (Organic Spray) is designed to deliver Certified USDA Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified Vitamin C from real food in an easy-to-use liquid form. A daily dose of five sprays provides 100% of the daily value of vitamin C without any artificial ingredients or chemical preservatives-just wholesome organic food with a delicious orange-tangerine taste with organic stevia.

Vitamin C is crucial for immune health and other functions so I take it daily. This spray is convenient and easy to use, I use 5 sprays daily. The orange-tangerine flavour tastes so yummy. Kids over 4 can also use it. I highly recommend it especially for those who have trouble swallowing tablets or capsules.

Garden of Life Vitamin Code Family – 120 Capsules

A comprehensive RAW whole food multivitamin formula, Vitamin Code Family has been specially formulated to meet the needs of the entire family, including adults, teenagers, and children. Plus, since it’s RAW, Vitamin Code Family Multivitamin contains no synthetic binders, fillers, artificial flavours, colours or additives.

I love that this formula is made from raw fruits and vegetables without any binders, artificial flavours, colours or sugars. This is the perfect multivitamin as it also includes live probiotics and enzymes to aid digestion.

The capsules are easy to swallow and I take 2 capsules twice a day. I’ve definitely noticed a huge improvement in my overall health.

mykind Organics Kids Multi – Fruit – 120 Gummies

mykind Organics Kids Multi Gummies are a delicious kid’s vitamin. A blend with nine organic whole fruits, they are free from synthetic vitamins, processed sugar and syrups, corn starch, or pig gelatine. Made with pectin from non-GMO apples and organic orange peel, they come in either organic fruit or organic cherry flavour.

These yummy gummies don’t include any animal products either. Instead, they’re made with true, wholefood ingredients. That makes them not just organic and non-GMO, but vegan, gluten free and kosher.

My kids absolutely love these gummies. We previously used another brand that made chewables but this is much better. I love that they are made from real, organic, non-GMO fruits and vegetables (9 whole organic fruits in every bottle!) and without sugar, animal gelatin, artificial dyes
and sweeteners or chemical vitamins.

My kids are always so eager to have their 4 gummies a day and would want more because they taste so yummy. I’m so glad they enjoy taking them and I don’t have to coax them.

Have you tried Garden of Life supplements?  I’d love to know your thoughts.
