Skin is sacred. To honour it we’ve developed a cleanser that takes washing your face to a whole other level. African Black Soap is considered to be Africa’s best kept beauty secret. With natural antibacterial and exfoliating properties, it acts gently but effectively to improve skin texture and tone, reduce inflammation and treat signs of ageing like dark spots and wrinkles.

Inspired by an ancient recipe, our foaming oil-based blend combines sweet almond oil, regenerative babassu oil, uplifting grapefruit and palmarosa oils, and detoxifying bentonite clay. We’ve specifically chosen non-comedogenic oils that regenerate, moisturise and leave skin fresh and clean as well as happy and glowing.

Why It’s a Good Cleanser

I love that this cleanser is centered on African black soap, renowned for its natural antibacterial and exfoliating properties. It comes in a glass jar that feels earthy and authentic. When you open it, the scent is fresh and uplifting—a lively citrus lift from grapefruit balanced with the soft floral touch of palmarosa. The scent is calming and spa-like, transforming a simple cleanse into a mindful ritual.

The texture is creamy and smooth, with visible flecks of cocoa pod ash that melt into the skin as you massage it in. It’s not a harsh foaming wash—instead, when you add water, it transforms into a light lather that glides easily across the skin. A tiny amount (about the size of a blueberry) is enough, so the jar lasts longer than you’d expect.

It gently detoxifies and clears my pores, leaving that deeply satisfying ‘clean’ feeling—without any dryness. My skin feels and looks fresh and polished. It also doubles as a body cleanser and works beautifully as a shave balm.

If you’re searching for a cleanser that’s gentle, effective, and rooted in holistic values, this one truly ticks all the boxes.

Available on subscription for £26.99 (10% off the one-time price of £29.99).
