Nula SOY – CANDLES TO EVOKE THE ESSENCE OF A BEAUTIFUL PLACE…

Do you love scented candles? Do you know what’s in your typical candle?  Have you ever considered there are safer alternatives? 

I love scented candles, not only do they add ambience to a room, the flickering flame and scent help create a cosy environment.

Your typical candle is made of paraffin wax, which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned (both are known carcinogens). They are also scented with synthetic fragrances and some have metal wicks which all lead to indoor air pollution.

There are non-toxic candles available.  I made the switch to soy candles a few years ago as they are better for your health and the environment.  Soy wax is natural (made from soybeans), renewable, biodegradable, toxin-free and burns cleaner, evenly and longer.

Make sure it is 100% soy and scented with 100% essential oils.  Trust me not all soy candles are created equal, some brands add paraffin wax and fragrance oils.

Nula Soy is a brand I’ve newly discovered and come to love.  Founder Helen Cornford created Nula Soy in 2012 with the aim of creating and producing a range of exceptional English made soy wax candles, fragranced using only 100% pure certified organic essential oils which have been certified organic by either The Soil Association or The Organic Farmers and Growers in the UK.

Each Nula Soy candle is hand-poured in Cheshire, England to the highest possible standards, using only natural renewable soy wax, cotton wicks and 100% pure essential oils.  They do not use animal products and their soy candles have not been tested on animals.

Nula Soy candles are registered with The Vegan Society and 5% of their profits is donated to The Bumblebee Conservation Trust.

• Bali, Indonesia – A calming blend of Sandalwood, Vetiver, Mandarin and Lemongrass
• Blue Mountains, Australia – A fortifying blend of Eucalyptus Radiata (Australiana), Cedarwood, Lemon Myrtle and Peppermint
• Peaceful Earth – A meditative blend of Frankincense, Sweet Orange and Bergamot

Each candle is housed in beautiful crystal glassware made to the world’s highest ecological standards in Bavaria, then colour-coated and branded in the UK.

A totally unique aspect of Nula Soy is their glassware is available in two beautiful colours per fragrance perfectly matching the colours of each location and also to complement or blend with different décor.

The candles are also available in three different sizes – Alto, Mezzo and Piccolo.

Before lighting your candle, ensure the wick is trimmed to 5mm.  When lighting a candle for the first time, allow the surface wax to melt all the way across to secure a ‘wax memory’ and prevent tunneling. Burn the candle for a maximum of 4 hours at a time (2 hours for Piccolo size).

Any blend that has ylang-ylang has my heart.  There’s just something about ylang-ylang…it is sensual and euphoric, Patchouli is earthy and spicy and Grapefruit is fresh and zesty.  The combination results in a sweet, rich and seductive blend and definitely takes you to a sultry place…
