In the UK alone, based on population, around 200 million toothbrushes are thrown away each year. Yes, it’s shocking right? These toothbrushes will end up landfill, and in some cases, in our Oceans & Seas. Bad for Mother Nature = bad for the worlds marine life.
I’ve been trying to do my bit to save our planet from plastic overload so I decided to try some products from PearlBar.

I love using my Oral-B Trizone electric toothbrush so I was a bit skeptical trying a natural toothbrush. First of all I love how light this toothbrush is. It does feel a little different at first but I got used to it. The bristles are soft but I don’t have to use too much pressure when brushing. It cleans just as well as a regular toothbrush so I’m happy with the results. My teeth feel clean and it does help remove stains.
What’s also great is the toothbrush is easy to clean, you can see clearly between the bristles unlike some regular toothbrushes. It lasts just as long as your regular toothbrush and after 3 months I can simply dispose of it in an eco-friendly way!

I wasn’t sure if the kids would like this toothbrush as they are used to their colourful kid’s character ones. Surprisingly, Annaliese loves her new toothbrush and enjoys using it. Again it is very light and she can easily hold it herself and brush with ease. They clean her teeth very well.

I always make sure I floss regularly as brushing alone can’t get to all the hard-to-reach places where plaque builds up. Flossing helps to remove plaque and bacteria that builds up in the nooks and crannies between your teeth and gum line.
If left to fester, plaque will turn into tartar which eventually causes the damage that leads to tooth decay and gum disease.
I don’t like to use the traditional floss picks as they are nylon, coated with wax and sometimes flouride.
These PearlBar floss picks are a great alternative. I personally find they do a better job than the regular ones. They are easy to handle and have just the right amount of tension. They are easy to glide between my teeth without having to pull or tug. Although they are slightly more expensive than the traditional ones, they are so worth it as they are better for your health and the environment.
