I’m a huge fan of SKN-RG so when I was invited to an exclusive launch day for their new skincare treatments at SenSpa at Careys Manor I said “yes please”.
The invitation was for a whole day dedicated to ‘bloggers’ to experience the Spa and the new SKN-RG treatments.
The itinerary for the day:
- 9am – 10am: Spring Green breakfast
Enjoy a delicious breakfast from the Spring Green menu at SenSpa. Devised by Bonnie Stowell, of botanical superfood company Spring Green London, this is the New Forest’s first clean-eating menu, which features a blend of fresh, raw, chopped and pureed fruit, vegetables, pulses, nuts and grains, and is free from wheat, cow dairy and refined sugar.

SKN-RG founder Deborah Scott will introduce the revolutionary SKN-RG regime, which uses pioneering technology.

Discover the state-of-the-art facilities on offer at SenSpa.

- 2pm onwards: Use of the SenSpa facilities
Spend the rest of your afternoon experiencing the award-winning facilities.
- Throughout the day: SKN-RG Wave treatment (90 minutes):
Guests can experience the new SKN-RG Wave treatment performed by SKN-RG Director Deborah or therapist Tina. The Wave treatment allows you to discover a completely new facial experience that combines award-winning products with frequency waves to restore balance and harmony to the whole body.
I’m quite familiar with SenSpa products but had never visited the spa so I was excited for the day to finally come round.
Inspired by ancient Eastern rituals this award winning Thai spa offers an escape from everyday life, a chance to truly unwind and leave your everyday cares at the threshold. We focus on the health of the mind, body and spirit, combining state-of-the-art hydrotherapy facilities with authentic Thai therapies and mouth-watering Thai cuisine, delivered with the warmth and grace of Thailand. Monday 19th November finally arrived and I decided to travel by train. The nearest mainline station is Brockenhurst which is just a short walk from the hotel. There are regular direct train services from London Waterloo (90 minutes), the Midlands and the North. So I had an early start with my train ticket booked for 7.03am from London Waterloo. I was on schedule and everything was going well until I arrived at London Waterloo.Located at the historic country house hotel, Careys Manor, in the heart of the New Forest National Park, spa therapy and nature therapy combine to offer unrivalled spa breaks and spa days to leave your body glowing, your mind renewed and your soul soothed.
Without boring you with all the details, there were a lot of angry commuters trying to figure out what to do. After waiting for over an hour I was advised to travel to London Paddington, take a train to Reading and finally a CrossCountry train to Brockenhurst.
I finally arrived around 11.30, tired and frazzled. Anyhow I was there and ready to have a well-deserved day of pampering! Once I arrived I was warmly greeted by staff and welcomed by Spa Director Lina Lotto and SKN-RG Director Deborah Scott. They were both grateful I braved the journey and happy I made it.We sat down in the Zen Garden Restaurant which is very serene. The traditional Thai decor creates a tranquil and relaxed dining atmosphere.
I was gutted I had missed the Spring Green breakfast. Thankfully they managed to rustle up a selection of pastries, yoghurt and fruit for me. I was offered their Camellia’s Welcome Tea – an uplifting and refreshing blend of delicate white tea leaves, luscious apricot pieces and fine jasmine tea.
The tea was delicious and was just what I needed after my journey. I had a brief talk with Deborah and Lina. It was interesting to learn that Lina has had a lifelong interest in holistic health and wellbeing. She is a spa expert with 18 years in the industry working in Asia, Australia and the UK. She joined SenSpa in 2004 and has helped develop the spa.
I was later joined by three bloggers Hayley from Hayley Hall, Jenni from myweebuddy and Louise from thesussexsplendour. Deborah talked about her journey and explained a little bit about the Wave treatment we would be having later on.
Time went by so quickly and it was now time for lunch. I love Thai food and was ready to indulge in some delicious Thai cuisine.
I ordered the Phad Krapow Phed Yang – Stir-fried roasted duck with chili, garlic and Thai holy basil leaves.
For dessert I ordered Deep fried Vanilla Ice Cream with cinnamon fruit salad. The food was absolutely delicious.
It was now time for me to get changed. I was given a robe, slippers, towel, a token for the lockers and a wrist band for accessing various areas of the spa. The changing rooms were lovely with private cubicles, lockers and fully equipped with hair dryers and toiletries.
Next up was my tour of the facilities.
SenSpa boasts 22000 square feet of spa with some of the most extensive facilities in the UK.
Facilities include a large Hydrotherapy Pool, UV swimming pool, Herbal Sauna, Crystal Steam Room, Laconicum, Tepidarium, the UK’s only AlphaSphere Deluxe, Experience Showers, Health Showers, Ice Room, Rhassoul Mud Room, Hammam Rooms, Vichy Showers, Relaxation room, Quiet Room, Thai Temple studio, Gymnasium, 18 Luxurious treatment rooms, Zen Garden Thai Restaurant and the SenSpa Boutique.
Once my tour ended it was now time for the bit I’ve been looking forward to… spending time experiencing the award-winning facilities. I was ready for some well deserved relaxation time.
I enjoyed the ….
The Hydrotherapy Pool – it was lovely reclining on the underwater benches and feel the gentle massaging bubble jets. It helped to relax my muscles and ease tension.Experience Showers – Choose from warm tropical rainfall, refreshing cold sea storm or invigorating ice storm to awaken the senses.
Crystal Steam Room – Energised by a large crystal of Bohemian Amethyst, the crystal steam room operates at a temperature of approximately 45- 48°C, gently opening pores to cleanse the skin and remove toxins from the body. This was lovely.
Ice Room – Soothe and cool the skin with crushed ice, drench yourself with cold water from the kouble douche (wooden bucket suspended from the ceiling). Following heat with cold helps the detoxifying process by removing impurities from your system. I wasn’t quite ready for this haha!
Tepidarium – It was lovely to relax on heated loungers under twinkling lights. Use this room to relax and prevent you from becoming cold during your hydrotherapy experience.Relaxation room – Deepen relaxation between treatments in tranquil and exotic surroundings. There is a variety of complimentary drinks like fruit juices, water and tea.
Quiet Room – I enjoyed sitting back on the comfortable recliners and enjoying complete peace and quiet. What’s more I had completely forgotten about my stressful start to the day, I was now calm and relaxed.
It was now time for me to experience the SKN-RG® Wave Facial. What better way to end the day?
My therapist was Deborah (SKN-RG Director). I was shown to the treatment room where Deborah explained the three-step process: SKN-RG® Sound, SKN-RG® Crystals and SKN-RG® Frequency.
Deborah began the treatment by placing three powerful chakra crystals Rose Quartz, Jade and Clear Crystal (on my tummy, between my feet and crown of my head)
She used the tuning forks on my body to balance and bring equilibrium. When the tuning forks are placed you will hear them activated and feel a gentle vibration.
Next she did a pre-cleanse of my face and neck, cleanse and exfoliate to remove dead skin cells, leaving the pores fresh, open and accessible to nutrients. A mask is applied which can penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin. Whilst the mask is on, tuning forks are used on the body again before using them on different acupressure points on the face, maximising anti-ageing benefits. A SKN-RG® facial massage follows using specialist deep massage techniques to really lift and tone the muscles before a crystal massage using semi-precious rose or clear quartz crystals, promoting healthy glowing skin. To finish, a toner, skin treatment, eye cream, moisturiser and lip balm are applied before performing a closing ritual of the tuning forks on the body. Specific music coinciding with the frequencies of the tuning forks calms the spirit, creating a truly unique treatment and provides incredible results to your skin.
I have to say this treatment is pretty unique and unforgettable. I was totally relaxed and enjoyed every bit of it, the deep massage was amazing. Deborah has magic hands, seriously! My skin felt so soft and and was glowing afterwards.
Products used during my facial were: Advanced Flash Balm, Advanced Cleansing Melt, Advanced Cellular Renewal Exfoliant, Advanced Miracle Mask, Advanced Cellular Toner, Advanced Eye Elixir and Advanced Ultra Marine Collagen Creme.
The SKN-RG wave facial is available using either the Organics or Advanced SKN-RG product ranges.
The new SKN-RG treatments offered at SenSpa include:
- SKN-RG Organics Facial (60 mins | £85)
A nurturing, soothing and hydrating facial designed to melt away the signs of ageing. SKN-RG’s semi-precious rose quartz derma wand drains the skin’s toxins, before a gentle cleanse of marshmallow and comfrey detoxifies and purifies the skin. An exfoliation removes dead skin cells and reduces inflammation, before a nourishing mask is applied to treat fragile skin at a cellular level, and a unique SKN-RG firming massage boosts the production of collagen fibres and fights the signs of ageing. The treatment finishes with a rejuvenating crystal massage, toner, skin treatment, moisturiser and repair lip balm.
- SKN-RG Advanced Facial (60 mins | £85)
This expert anti-ageing facial uses non-invasive face lift techniques rooted in the ancient art of yoga to bring lift and smoothness to the skin. SKN-RG’s semi-precious quartz crystal wand dredges the skin of toxins and imparts vital silica-rich minerals to firm, rejuvenate and revitalise. Cleansing fruit enzymes boost healthy cellular activities and wash away daily pollutants, and exfoliation removes dead skin cells and impurities. A face mask using apple and argan stem cells reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and a firm facial massage boosts collagen and densifies collagen fibres. The treatment ends with a crystal massage, toner, skin treatment, moisturiser and repair lip balm.
- Eye definition treatment (15 mins | £25)
The perfect addition to a SKN-RG facial, this treatment uses Quanta® technology to target and improve fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. A warm compress, hydrating mask, SKN-RG eye gems, a jade stone crystal massage and SKN-RG eye cream are brought together in a treatment that will leave the eyes rejuvenated and refreshed.
- SKN-RG Wave facial (90 mins | £115 )
Discover a new immersive facial experience in this unique, relaxing, unforgettable results-driven facial that combines award-winning products with frequency waves to restore balance and harmony to the whole body. SKN-RG SPA Wave uses sound waves that travel through the body and face to increase vitality at a cellular level. The cutting-edge processes reduce the key protein responsible for the ageing process and enhances chi – otherwise known as life force – to give the ultimate in restoration for the mind, body and spirit.
SenSpa Boutique – You can take the SenSpa experience home with you with a collection of organic skincare products including SKN-RG as well as SenSpa’s own Natural Body Therapy Range.
It was finally time to leave and we each got a goodie bag to take home …
