I was recently introduced to Luna Skin Care – a black owned, vegan and handmade skincare brand based in the UK.
The brand was founded by Luna Seto and launched earlier this year. The aim was to create a vegan friendly, all-natural ingredients skincare brand.
The beauty entrepreneur started making skincare products at home at the age of 14 as she was very passionate about natural ingredients. She experimented on weekends and during school holidays. Her passion for home remedies and skin care has brought her to where she is today. Over the years Luna continued making her own skincare products and sending them to friends and family.
A dream became reality when launching the vegan skincare brand which is an all-natural plant-based range. Luna Skincare is a unique brand, as the majority of my products are coffee based, infused with arabica coffee.
Why Arabica coffee? Coffee has lots of health benefits for the skin such as breakouts, reduces scars, and contains anti-aging properties. Luna only uses the best quality to give your skin the perfect glow.
I was keen to try out the products and was sent one of her face masks to try out.
CACAO COFFEE & CLAY FACE MASK 100ml
Chocolate repairs skin cells, Coffee eliminates skin impurities, Kaolin clay cleanses detoxifies and reduces fine lines, Bentonite Clay deep cleanses pores and Lemon essential oil improves skin tone.
Ingredients:
Aqua(water), Cocoa powder 100%, Arabica ground coffee, Agave syrup, Glycerin (vegetable), Kaolin Clay, Bentonite Clay, Vitamin E, Benzyl, Citrus (Lemon Oil) 100% natural organic
How to use:
Scoop out about a quarter-sized amount. Start by evening spreading the face mask onto your face avoiding the delicate lip and eye area. Leave on for 10-15 minutes, rinse with warm water and then dry. Use a toner to freshen skin and then apply lotion.
Store in the fridge. Shelf life is 6 weeks.
My experience:
I’m not a coffee drinker, however I appreciate it does wonders when applied to the skin. I love that this mask is all natural, with just a few ingredients and each ingredient is beneficial to the skin.
Firstly this mask smells delicious and uplifting. The consistency is perfect and it spreads easily. You can feel the graininess from the coffee grounds but it doesn’t feel rough or scratch the skin. I love the addition of kaolin and bentonite clays to penetrate deep into the pores and remove impurities and toxins.
After leaving it on for 15 minutes, I gently massage it to exfoliate before rinsing. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and silky smooth. This is a great mask to wake up tired skin and give you an instant glow!
