ST. Tropica Organic Coconut Hot Oil Hair Mask Review

My hair which is kinky/coily is more prone to dryness, breakage and frizz as it is made up of more cuticle layers.

If your hair is super dry or breaking, show your hair some love by having regular hot oil treatments. Trust me your hair will thank you for it.

Coconut oil stands out as a favourite, we all know how amazing it is and it’s multiple uses and benefits.  I absolutely love this meme

img_0586Organic Green Tea

A major Korean study* from Seoul National University suggests Green Tea stimulates human hair growth, due to its super-high concentrations of EGCG (epigallocatechin-3-gallate) – a potent antioxidant known as a Polyphenol. Green tea is also good source of Panthenol, widely known to help strengthen hair and manage split ends.

img_0585Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

Where other hair oils just sit on the hair, the unique molecular structure of Virgin Coconut Oil enables it to fully penetrate the human hair shaft (as proven by Princeton U), getting past the hair cuticle and into the cortex, repairing hair damage where it originates: from the inside-out. Rich in Lauric Acid & Vitamin E, it is also proven in Government published studies* to increase hair strength by reducing protein loss.

img_0587-1Organic Biotin

Rich in hair vitamins, Biotin has long since been considered THE anchor ingredient in all things hair, nails & skin – for strength & enhanced hair shine. It encourages healthy hair growth and is also known to increase hair’s elasticity, thereby minimizing hair breakage.

img_0594Organic Amla

Also known as the Gooseberry, is famous in India/Asia and best known for its rich source of essential fatty acids which serve to keep the hair follicles strong, while adding a lustrous softness from root to tip. It’s brilliant for dry hair.

On-trend as THE celebrity secret hair ingredient, this rare herb contains intense amounts of silica, essential for vibrant healthy hair. It helps repair damaged hair tissue along the hair shaft, revitalizing damaged hair or over-processed hair.

Directions

There are two methods on the packet – microwave or kettle

I personally prefer the kettle method as I think it’s safer and would preserve the nutrients, I have a microwave but I honestly don’t use it.

Cut open the packet and pour into desired container or applicator bottle if you have one (this makes it easier to apply).

This is my method of application:

  1. I section my hair into 4-6 sections (this makes it easier to distribute)
  2. Apply oil starting at my scalp and then distribute to my hair strands
  3. Masage my scalp gently using circular motions – it stimulates circulation and helps promote hair growth
  4. Apply shower cap and leave for a minimum of 20 minutes or overnight.
  5. Shampoo hair twice and condition as normal

So for the first treatment I used the entire packet on my hair.  I found the contents more than enough for my hair so second time round I used the rest on Annaliese’s hair.  I did the overnight treatment on 2 occasions.  I would highly recommend using a towel or old t-shirt to protect your pillow.

For my last packet I followed the same procedure but decided to sit under my hair steamer for 15 minutes.  I love this method as it helped to open up my cuticles and let the treatment penetrate more.

I try to have a balance of moisture and protein in my hair regimen and I’ve found this hot oil hair mask has definitely helped.  My hair feels revived, stronger, healthier and able to retain moisture better.  I also have less breakage and frizz which is great!

Will I purchase this myself??? Definitely, I’ve used coconut oil on its own but I’ve achieved better results using this hair mask.

The hair masks are available as 3 pack, 6 pack or 12 pack.

You can purchase online at sttropica.com
