I’ve been taking part in Organic September – a month-long campaign led by the Soil Association (the UK’s leading food and farming charity and organic certification body) to help raise the profile of organic products in the UK, shine a light on organic farmers, producers and brands.
The campaign is intended to try and encourage consumers to make a change to their shopping habits in order to make a difference to sustainable food, animal welfare and the environment.
There are so many reasons to choose organic…you know that when you choose organic, you choose products that promote a better world.
Aromatherapy is my absolute favourite thing. I use it in one form or another everyday. It is such a core part of my lifestyle.
One of my favourite aromatherapy brands Tisserand Aromatherapy recently launched a new look website and beautiful new product packaging. The new website is easy to navigate, filled with lots of information and tips. There is also a page filled with recipes & blends so you can become your own aromatherapist.
They have a lovely selection of organic essential oils which carry the Soil Association logo.
I decided to stock up on some of my favourites when they had a limited ‘Buy one, get one free’ offer on all essential oils and pure blending oils.
TISSERAND ORANGE ORGANIC PURE ESSENTIAL OIL 9ML | £4.75
The familiar fragrance of orange is cheering to the spirit and will help to release anxiety and encourage feelings of joy.
The aroma is light, soft and citrusy, becoming sweeter as it evaporates
TISSERAND TEA TREE ORGANIC PURE ESSENTIAL OIL 9ML | £5.70
Possibly one of the most renowned herbal treatments throughout the world, pungent Tea Tree is ideal for use in soothing and healing a ream of ailments. Extracted from the green leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia, it is thought that Tea Tree gained its modern name from English explorer Cpt James Cook, whose crew drank infusions of the plant to treat scurvy.
The aroma is medicinal, fresh, green and strong
TISSERAND ROSEMARY ORGANIC PURE ESSENTIAL OIL 9ML | £6.22
Warming and revitalising Rosemary essential oil is a potent and powerful inclusion to stimulating aromatherapy blends. Native to the southern Mediterranean, this hardy herb now grows prolifically throughout Europe.
The aroma is warm, herbal and woody
TISSERAND LEMON ORGANIC PURE ESSENTIAL OIL 9ML | £5.40
Lemon is one of those lovely citrus fragrances that lifts a dark mood and reminds you of summer. In the practice of aromatherapy, Lemon is used to uplift feelings of depression, low spirits and anxiety.
The aroma is zesty, bright, sharp and clean
TISSERAND GRAPEFRUIT ORGANIC PURE ESSENTIAL OIL 9ML | £6.15
This detoxifying oil is often used in cleansing and clarifying aromatherapy treatments. When used in massage, Grapefruit can help stimulate kidney function and rid the body of excess fluid.
The aroma is zesty, bright, sharp and sweet
TISSERAND EUCALYPTUS ORGANIC PURE ESSENTIAL OIL 9ML | £4.85
Extracted from gargantuan Australian trees spanning skywards for up to 100 meters, Eucalyptus essential oil is used in a plethora of modern treatments, for everything from a common cold to reviving tired muscles.
The aroma is sharp, clearing and green
TISSERAND BLACK PEPPER ORGANIC ESSENTIAL OIL 9ML | £11.95
The black pepper plant is a trailing vine with perfect, heart shaped leaves. It can climb up to 5 meters in height and produces long clusters of 20-30 flowers which hang down and turn into tiny round fruit – the peppercorn. Once dried, the peppercorns become recognisable as the spice we use in cooking today.
It is used in aromatherapy to ease aching muscles, boost the immune system, improve circulation and comfort a tired spirit.
The aroma is warm, pungent and spicy
I like to use my essential oils for skincare, hair, massage, in the bath, around the house for cleaning, in my laundry, as a deodoriser and in my diffuser. I use different blends in my diffuser to create the perfect ambience, lift my mood or relax and relieve stress.
What are some of your favourite essential oils and how do you use them?
There’s still time to get involved with Organic September this year. Whether you’re out and about or shopping online, try switching to organic. There are many offers and promotions around. The Soil Association is the most recognisable organic label in the UK, so look out for products with its logo and Organic your September.
Have a lovely weekend.
