Review – Neal’s Yard Remedies Essential Oils

I love Aromatherapy and incorporate essential oils into my daily routine. Essential oils have amazing health benefits and there are so many ways to use them.

You can diffuse essential oils into the air, apply them topically, inhale them and even use them at home in your laundry, disinfect and clean surfaces and repel insects etc.

I have quite a number of essential oils in my collection and I’m constantly adding new ones.

I’m a huge fan of Neal’s Yard Remedies and recently signed up as an independent consultant. Their products are so amazing, all natural and effective. I also love their iconic blue glass bottles. They not only look great but the blue pigment protects against sunlight, helping to protect and preserve the precious natural ingredients within.

A global, award-winning leader in Organic Health & Beauty since 1981, Neal’s Yard Remedies began with the passionate belief that beauty should be natural, with the tree in their logo symbolising their belief that outer beauty and inner health should be in perfect balance. Harnessing the power of the finest natural and organic, ethically sourced herbs, botanicals and essential oils, free from unnecessary chemicals, to help you feel good and look good, naturally.

Today’s post is all about the essential oils that came in my starter pack. I also love the ‘Little Book of Essential Oils’ which is a handy pocket size encyclopedia of essential oils.

Lavender Essential Oil 10ml

Steam distilled from the flowers and leaves of French lavender, our lavender essential oil is cleansing and refreshing. Naturally soothing, lavender oil is traditionally used for it’s calming properties and is a great all-rounder for beginners.

Lavender oil has anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antidepressant, antiseptic, antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, as well as antispasmodic, analgesic, detoxifying, hypotensive, and sedative effects.

How to use:

Bath & Shower

The essential oil is inhaled through the aromatic steam, as well as being absorbed by the skin. For adults, add up to 5 drops in 2 tbsp bath oil, shower gel, or carrier oil. For children over 2 years old or adults with sensitive skin, reduce the amount to up to 2 drops per 2 tbsp. Not suitable for children under two years old.

Inhalation

This technique helps to clear your head and nose. For adults, add 4–6 drops to a bowl of steaming water, pace a towel over your head and breathe. Children over 2 years old, adults with sensitive skin and asthmatics should not inhale directly. Instead, place the bowl of hot water with added oils in the room nearby. Not suitable for children under two years old.

Massages

Relaxes your body and mind while helping to soothe aching muscles. For adults, use up to 7 drops in 1 tbsp of base oil. For children over 2 years old or adults with sensitive skin, use up to 3 drops in 1 tbsp of base oil. Not suitable for children under two years old.

A natural air freshener, this technique creates a relaxing ambiance and mood. For adults, add 1–3 drops in a diffuser or burner. For children over 2 years old, add 1–3 drops in a diffuser. Not suitable for children under two years old.

Lavender essential oil is one of my staples and great for beginners. It is one of the most popular and versatile essential oils used in aromatherapy.

It has a sweet, floral and herbaceous aroma which has a calming and soothing effect on the senses. Lavender oil has so many uses for everyday life. It helps alleviate insomnia, anxiety, depression, stress and restlessness.

It soothes and heals the skin so I use it as a first aid remedy for cuts, wounds, burns, insect bites, stings etc. I also use it as a painkiller to treat headaches and menstrual cramps.

The deeply relaxing aroma of Lavender soothes and calms the mind and body making it ideal for bedtime.
